Start of 2nd year

Another post from Ryan:
So my 2nd year has begun and.... it's busy! We have 3 lab courses, which I love. Dentures is really time consuming and I've never much enjoyed working with dentures, but it's nice to be using my hands and some of the skills I picked up at the lab/Dr. Mirci's office. We have a continuation of our crown and bridge course from last year. I have really enjoyed it and did pretty well on my first bridge ever. Here is what it looked like:
The professor who was evaluating my preps is quite a stickler, so I was worried that he would be very hard on my work... so I kept working on it until I couldn't see anything at all that could be improved; then I had him evaluate it. He looked and only had a minor adjustment he wanted me to make and then he said it looked great when he looked again.

Our last lab course is starting amalgam fillings. This is really new for me, but I'm really loving it. It is really busy, though. The first day in class, our professor gave us 4 preps to do and 5 the next class. So far though, I'm keeping up, but it is taking all the time in class... and maybe a little more. Two Saturdays ago I spent 5 hours at school and last Saturday it was 8. That was not only for lab courses, but was also studying book work stuff too.

This semester is busy didactically as well. We will have a lot of 3 week courses about different body systems... right now we are in the middle of the gastrointestinal system. All these courses are to prepare us for boards in December. I need to find time to study... it's tough with so much time spent in the lab.

However, I have found a little bit of time to play around:

Our dear sweet nephew, Kallen. The picture is blurry because the little wiggle worm wouldn't stop moving, so this is the best I could get. I just can't get enough of that kid. It's really easy to make him smile and laugh, even over the web cam.

A very elegant hitchin'

I know I said that I would post more Utah pictures, and I will (to those of you who care), but I just wanted to post some of our friends Brett and Brittany on their wedding day. It was a very beautiful wedding. Ryan and I were fortunate enough to be a part of it. Ryan was a groomsman and I did a reading during the ceremony. The reception was so elegant and so much fun. It was nice getting to know their families and friends. It was also nice to go to a place I'd never been before. It was in Novi, Michigan. It was a very pretty place. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves. Congrats Brett & Brittany, we love you guys.

This is the reception hall decorated gorgeously. The open bar at the very back got pretty crowded. I don't know if I should have enjoyed this, but it was fun watching everyone get a little toasted:)Here is the happy couple just after they cut the cake. Isn't her dress just lovely?

Here are some more pictures of our trip to Utah. Like Ryan said, it was SOOO good to be home and see everyone. I must have taken about a million pictures. But not to worry, I'll only post a few...I love this temple.

Happy Birthday Ryan!!

Today is a great day! It's the 27th anniversary of Ryan Wade Jones' birth. Yay! I'm so grateful for Ryan! Here are a few of the MANY reasons why I love him.

He's awesome!! (and I love it when he takes his shirt off, rawr!!

He works really hard to accomplish his goals. I'm so proud of him!!
He's goofy and makes life fun.

He is Oh so Handsome!!! (Ok, more like Freakin HOT!!)

He is my Best Friend, ever!

My life has been so blessed with him in it. I am so grateful he is mine forever.

A Post From Ryan

Since I have a few months off school, we decided that it would be a great opportunity for me to go home and visit family and get some camping/golfing in with my parents. So I flew out to Utah and let my loving wife at home to work and pay the bills while I played. She is the best wife ever. She later joined me for a week and a half, but I will let her write all about our time there together and everything that happened. I will cover what happened there while she was still in Cleveland.

Like I said earlier my time in Utah waiting for Kris to join me was filled with golf and camping. I golfed quite a bit with my dad and a couple days with my mom. I finally got my swing in shape, shot some good rounds and wowed my stepdad with my display of power. My hope was to have things clicking in time for some golf in Michigan, after our Utah trip, with my friend Brett. Well fast forward to MI and my game sucked again already :)

Side note: My mom would disown me if she ever saw this but since I know she never looks at our blog I'm confident that I will still be in the will.

My mom then took me to Wendover for an outing and I was reminded that I should not be allowed near casinos for the good of my wallet. Its a good thing that my religion discourages gambling and that I am way too poor to go consistently 'cause I'm only a few thousand dollars away from being labeled a full blown addict.

Then my sister, her family, my dad and I went up to Currant Creek for 5 days for some fishing and relaxing. It was a lot of fun even though we did get some rain and the fishing wasn't as good as it has been historically. I had some success on the float tube and a little bit with a spinner on the stream. Mostly it was great to have some time with my dad and the Cowley's (my sister's family). Nieces/nephews are the hardest part of being away because they grow so fast and we miss so much while we are away. Kristy and I struggle a lot with homesickness thinking about our sisters' kids. So here are some pictures of the Cowley kids to brighten my day. That little blond girl is Cassie... she's a few days away from turning 9.

Jessie is this little girl wearing my hat. She just turned 4 the last day of our camping trip. And Carston is 10 months. He would point at you and wait for you to point back, man that made me smile.





It was a great trip! Two weeks is a long time for Kristy and I to be away from each other, and we were both very excited to see each other. Luckily, we got to spend another week and a half in Utah with family and friends.

A Letter to Ryan

Baby,

There are many things that I can't live without. Like, oxygen, water, food, sleep. These past two weeks have shown me that you are far and above those other things. I've always known that, but being without you has made it more clear to me that I could do without them; you, I can't! I've tried to find other things to occupy my time so I wouldn't think about you as much, but somehow my mind keeps wondering to you. I can't help it! I'm addicted.

I know I'm being a baby. Most people would be fine being without their spouse for two weeks, but not me. I've missed you every second. Sunday is going to be a very fine day indeed! I can't wait. In fact, I couldn't wait. So I bumped up my flight so I could be with you sooner. School has already put us in a ton of debt, what's a little bit more gonna hurt? :) I will see you soon, my love. I hope you have had a great time in Utah. It will be even better when I'm there, for I know you have missed me too.
